Why You Need Blue

Blue is such a fabulous color.  For those of you Housewives fans, you probably noticed everyone showing up in blue for Adrienne’s dinner party a few weeks ago.  There’s a reason.  Anyone can wear blue.  Blondes, redheads, brunettes, pale skin, dark skin, blue eyes, brown eyes, green eyes. Blue is everyone’s friend.  Blue doesn’t discriminate and Blue will never let you down.

Blue is one of the Primary colors; and can range from light like a robins egg to deep and dark like the night sky.  Diviine Modestee has quite a few blue dresses, in several different hues and I’m going to highlight two of my favs:

This navy blue wrap dress on the right is the Taylor and it is a classic wrap dress.  The great thing about a wrap dress in general is that there is more versatility in sizing, so if you are like me and find your weight fluctuating according to whether Cadbury Mini-Eggs are in season or not, then this dress is a fantastic choice.

The dress below, is one of our newest designs called Serena. It’s not even available on our website yet!  But never-fear, you can still get this dress by calling our office.

As soon as this dress arrived in our warehouse i snagged mine and I absolutely LOVE it.  One of the best things about this dress:  you get to order it a size smaller than you normally would!  This dress makes me a Medium!  How can I complain about that??  On top of running a tad large, it is also extremely flattering on my problem area: the stomach.  It is such a beautiful and different shade of blue that it is a true stand-out.

Visit our website to see a few more dresses that Diviine Modestee offers in blue: the Brecken and the Madison.

Thank you to our customers for your support for Daniel. Short video of his Fund-raising Event coming soon…

Seen at the Fashion Show….

Television and print media like to make Fashion Shows out to be very glamorous.  Thin models, fashion runways, photo flashes, celebrities everywhere*…The reality is they are several days of WORK.  And several days of eyes and brains being assaulted by some of the weirdest/craziest fashion that can be found. For example,  as soon as I walked in to the Project at the Women’s Wear Daily LA Fashion Show in Las Vegas I saw this:

Cowboy Ski Boots?

Check out the boots on that guy!

And I was stricken with a great idea…I was going to photograph all the crazy/unique/interesting fashions that I saw there.  But to tell you the truth, I ended up so mesmerized and involved in everything there was to see at the Fashion Show that I completely forgot!  So it’s a good thing that my friends** over at Thread Ethic (they don’t know I’m their friend, but whatevs!) have done the job for me, and with much better photos than my iPhone could possibly take.  Their first post in a series of photos that they took at the Fashion Show is about SHOES!  One of my favorite topics!  Go check it out!

*Never saw ANY celebrities :(

**I know their Aunts/Uncles and Nieces…my son used to dance with Tay years ago.

Hot Dresses for Fall

We’ve got a few new dresses in for fall! These dresses are so new that we haven’t even done the photoshoot yet.  They are both perfect for church, dances, homecoming, weddings….I’ve already purchased and worn one new dress, the Serena.  This dress has ruffle/flower detail around the neckline, a fitted banded waistband and a straight skirt.

Serena

I tried on this dress in my normal size, which is a large.  It was a little…well…large.  I wondered “is it possible that I’ve lost weight despite those choco-cinnamon-bear runs I seem to make to the store daily??” I’m going to go with that as my answer.  But if you call the store and order I will be forced to tell you that it runs about one size bigger, so be sure to order down a size.  In the meantime, I can with honesty (and a huge amount of pleasure), say “I am a size medium”, woot!  It’s fully lined, which I also love because that lining helps smooth any potential lines caused by undies or tights.  Here’s the neck detailing up close: This dress retails for $109 and is also available in XS-XL.  But because it runs large, an XXL (size 16) could wear this dress!

The MaKailee is the 3rd dress named after one of the designers daughters.  MaKailee the daughter, is an absolutely adorable, a tomboy soccer player with a cute-as-a-button smile. MaKailee the Dress, is available in two colors: Blue and Brown, has satin ruffle trim and details and button accent on the waist.  Trivia Question:  what are the other two dresses named after the designers daughters?

This dress retails at $84.

It’s available in XS-XL and even though it is not on our website yet, you can still order it by calling our office and placing your order.  Here’s a closer look at the ruffle-and-satin detailing:   If you are interested in either of these two dresses, they ARE available, you just need to give us a call.  801-785-1486. Also, mention this blog, order one of these dresses and get 20% off your ENTIRE order!  This offer is only good through Thursday, September 15.

Super Easy Peach Cobbler

If you are lucky enough to have a peach tree in your backyard, or a neighbor who does, right about now you may be wondering what to do with some of those extra peaches.  Of course you’ve thought of cobbler, who wouldn’t?

Easy Peach Cobbler
(this recipe is almost TOO easy…feel free to use fresh peaches instead of mushy canned ones!)

1 can peaches (really….use *fresh.  So much better)
1 (18.25 ounce) box white cake mix
3/4 to 1 cup butter or margarine, melted
Cinnamon (optional)

Place butter and dry cake mix in a large bowl and toss it until it’s moist and almost mixed. It’s okay to leave some of the dry lumps in the cake mix as they will get moistened from the peach syrup.
Pour the peaches, with their juices, into a glass baking dish. Top with the batter. Sprinkle this with cinnamon if desired. Bake at about 375 degrees F until golden brown and bubbly.

*If you use fresh peaches, chop/slice/dice/smash them (seriously, mash some.  You’ll want the yummy juicy-ness. Sprinkle with some sugar and add more butter <–never a bad thing.

PiperLime’s top 11 for Fall

Today I received an email from PiperLime with highlighting their Top 11 Trends for Fall.

PiperLime's Top 11 Trends for Fall

While I’m not super-excited for the 70′s Platforms (maybe they’ll grow on me) and Bellbottom Flares (really?? those were a Big Fail a few years ago…why throw these at us again?), there were a few items on this list that I was thrilled to see.

Faux Fur is fun, snuggly AND kind to animals, an extra bonus!

I have a ton of Pendants, glad to know I can still wear them.  Thank you PIperLime for putting Pendants on your list.

I LOVE the Hiker Boot look in general, just not the one they’ve shown, and have been keeping my eye out for a pair.  I think they’ll look cute and trendy with many skirts and dresses.

But best of all….Midi Skirts and Dresses!  Is that what this length is called?  I did not know this.  I just call it the Keeping-My-Large-Thighs-Covered-So-As-To-Be-Kind-to-The-General-Public-Length.   Coincidentally enough, guess who has a variety of Midi-Length Dresses and Skirts?  That’s right, Diviine Modestee.  Always at the fashion fore-front :)

Example of a photo entry

This is my cute daughter (ignore the fact that I’m obviously a fauxtographer because you can hardly see her face with the shadows) and also my example of a photo entry.  Your photo doesn’t have to be professional, but it DOES have to show one of our swimsuits.

Contest submissions end September 15, so don’t wait.  Submit your photo today.
